The Signal Mountain Middle/High School will open the 2008 school year after an almost 50-year effort by residents to have a high school located on Signal Mountain. In 2006, the community formed the Founders’ Fund to raise money to bridge the gap between what the Hamilton County Department of Education provided and what was needed to exceed exemplary standards in Academics, Athletics, and the Arts, creating a public college preparatory school on par with the best in the country. The school will offer an Early College program, and is seeking accreditation from the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer its prestigious academic programs.
